Mechanical Estimator Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in the construction or mechanical engineering industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and components, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and Microsoft Office suite.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills.
Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with local building codes and regulations is a plus.
Project management and construction industry certifications (e.g., PMP) are advantageous.
As a Mechanical Estimator:
Analyse project documents, specifications, and drawings to understand the scope, materials, and engineering requirements.
Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection. This involves evaluating labour, materials, subcontractor costs, and overhead expenses.
Perform quantity take-offs to determine the quantity and type of materials required for each project component.
Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services. Maintain good working relationships with suppliers.
Analyse historical data, industry trends, and market conditions to ensure cost estimates are competitive and realistic.
Create comprehensive and competitive bid proposals that align with project requirements and budgets.
Suggest cost-saving alternatives and value engineering options without compromising the project’s quality and functionality.
Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and propose risk mitigation strategies.
Ensure timely and accurate bid submissions to prospective clients and manage bid documentation.
Participate in bid review meetings and presentations with clients, addressing questions and concerns related to the estimate.
Assist in negotiations and contract finalisation after a successful bid.
Utilise estimation software and tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency in cost estimation.
The package is dependent on experience and the successful candidate will be rewarded favourably with a salary of up to €50000 is to be expected.
