Your new company is a leading Electrical Contractor based in Co Cork, specializing in delivering projects within the electrical and instrumentation sector. With a strong track record and established relationships with several of Ireland’s tier one main contractors, they have successfully completed electrical packages worth between €1 and €10 million. Since their formation over 30 years ago, they have earned a reputation for delivering extremely high-quality installations and fostering long-term partnerships with our clients. We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Junior Health & Safety Advisor to join their team in Cork. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety of our employees, subcontractors, and the general public, while maintaining compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and standards. As a Junior Health & Safety Advisor, you will support the existing health and safety initiatives and work closely with the Health & Safety Manager to promote a safe and collaborative work environment. Junior Health & Safety Advisor Skills:

 

  • A degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a health and safety role within the construction or engineering industry, preferably with exposure to electrical and instrumentation projects.
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards, including Safe Pass and ATEX Hazardous Area Training Program.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and assess potential risks and hazards.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver effective training sessions and facilitate productive discussions on health and safety topics.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and software.

 

As a Junior Health & Safety Advisor:

 

  • Assist the Health & Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining effective health and safety policies, procedures, and systems across all projects.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, risks, and non-compliance issues.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations, industry best practices, and company standards.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees regarding health and safety matters, including training, inductions, and toolbox talks.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommended corrective actions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health and safety programs and initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate measures.
  • Stay up to date with changes in legislation, regulations, and industry standards, and ensure compliance across all projects.
  • Promote a positive safety culture and encourage the reporting of hazards, incidents, and near misses.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of health and safety training programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of tender documentation by providing health and safety input and reviewing subcontractor health and safety plans.

 

The Package:

Expected salary to be between €40000 & €45000 plus Health Insurance, Pension, Fuel Allowance/Vehicle & Company events.
