This Irish main contractor has a strong track record delivering large scale building projects across Galway and throughout Ireland, with experience across residential, student accommodation, commercial, healthcare and education developments.

They have a strong pipeline of work in the West and are known for delivering technically demanding projects with a good standard of coordination between the construction, design and building services teams.

The Role: Building Services Coordinator

This Building Services Coordinator role is based in Galway, Co Galway, working on a major student accommodation development.

You will take responsibility for coordinating the mechanical and electrical services on site, working closely with the Project Manager, site team, M&E subcontractors, consultants and design team. The focus will be on ensuring building services are properly coordinated, technically compliant and delivered in line with the construction programme.

You will be involved from design coordination through installation, testing and commissioning, resolving clashes and technical issues before they affect progress on site.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have previous experience in a Building Services Coordinator, M&E Coordinator or Building Services Engineer role on construction projects
• Proven experience required coordinating mechanical and electrical services through installation and commissioning
• Experience working with a main contractor, M&E contractor or building services consultancy is required
• Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications and building services coordination

Preferred Experience

• Student accommodation, residential, hotel or similar multi unit project experience preferred
• Main contractor experience beneficial
• Experience with BIM, Revit, Navisworks or similar coordination software beneficial
• Strong understanding of commissioning and handover processes

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate mechanical and electrical services with the construction programme and site team
• Manage M&E subcontractor coordination and monitor progress against programme
• Review services drawings, specifications, technical submittals and coordinated models
• Identify clashes and resolve technical issues with consultants, subcontractors and the design team
• Monitor installation quality and ensure works comply with approved drawings and specifications
• Coordinate builders work requirements and interfaces between M&E services and architectural or structural elements
• Support testing, commissioning, snagging and final handover of building services
• Attend coordination meetings and provide clear progress updates to the Project Manager

About You

You will have practical building services experience and be comfortable coordinating mechanical and electrical packages in a live site environment.

You should be confident dealing with M&E subcontractors, consultants and site management while keeping a close eye on programme, installation quality and technical compliance. Experience on student accommodation, residential or other multi unit developments would be particularly relevant.

This position would suit a Building Services Coordinator who understands how M&E installation affects the wider construction programme and can identify coordination issues early rather than allowing them to become site delays.
