The Company

This established Irish contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering high quality education, healthcare, commercial and public sector projects across Munster and the wider Irish market.

With a growing workload in Cork, the company continues to secure repeat business through consistent project delivery, strong site management teams, and high construction standards. Their projects are well organised with a strong emphasis on programme delivery, quality finishes, and technical coordination.

They are now delivering a new school development in Cork with a 14 month construction programme and are looking to strengthen the site team with an experienced Building Services Engineer.

The Role: Building Services Engineer

This Building Services Engineer role is based on a live school construction project in Cork City, Co Cork. You will work closely with the Project Manager, design consultants, subcontractors, and site management team to coordinate all mechanical and electrical services throughout the build.

You will play a key role in ensuring M&E installations are delivered in line with programme requirements, technical specifications, safety standards, and commissioning deadlines.

The successful Building Services Engineer will be heavily involved in services coordination, quality inspections, subcontractor management, technical reviews, and commissioning activities across the project lifecycle.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have experience as a Building Services Engineer on Irish construction projects
• Proven experience required coordinating mechanical and electrical subcontractors
• Experience with a main contractor or M&E contractor in Ireland is required
• Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical services, commissioning, and technical compliance
• Relevant engineering or building services qualification required

Preferred Experience

• Education or public sector project experience preferred
• Experience using Procore, BIM 360, or similar construction management software beneficial
• Strong services coordination and commissioning experience advantageous

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all mechanical and electrical building services throughout the project
• Manage M&E subcontractors and monitor installation progress on site
• Review drawings, technical submittals, and services specifications
• Support programme delivery through effective sequencing of services works
• Carry out quality inspections and ensure installations meet required standards
• Attend site coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and design teams
• Assist with commissioning activities and project handover documentation
• Monitor health and safety compliance across all M&E activities
• Maintain accurate reporting and technical records throughout the project

About You

• You have strong technical knowledge across mechanical and electrical building services systems
• You are organised and capable of managing multiple subcontractors within a live site environment
• You have experience working on Irish construction projects with demanding programme deadlines
• You communicate well with site teams, consultants, and subcontractors
• You take a proactive approach to problem solving and technical coordination
• You understand the importance of quality control, commissioning, and programme certainty
