The Company
A leading Tier 1 Irish Main Contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Design Coordinator to join the project team on a major mixed-use development in Galway City.
The project combines multi-storey residential, commercial, hospitality and retail elements, creating a technically demanding build with significant coordination required between architectural, structural, M&E and specialist subcontractor packages.
The Role: Design Coordinator
As Design Coordinator, you’ll form part of the core Project Delivery Team, working closely with the Design Manager, Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor, consultants and subcontractors.
You’ll coordinate the production and release of design information, making sure it is fully coordinated, compliant, buildable, within budget and delivered in line with the construction and procurement programmes.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can drive consultants, manage design actions and identify technical or buildability issues before they affect progress on site.
Must Have Requirements
You’ll be an experienced Design Coordinator who understands how design impacts construction programme, procurement, cost and buildability.
You’ll be comfortable dealing directly with Architects, Engineers, consultants and specialist subcontractors, with the technical knowledge and communication skills to challenge information, drive decisions and get design issues closed out.
You’ll also need to be organised and commercially aware, with the ability to work independently while knowing when an issue needs to be escalated to the Design Manager.

Must Have Requirements
- Proven experience in a Design Coordinator or similar construction design role
- Main contractor or major building project experience required
- Strong knowledge of design coordination, buildability and construction sequencing
- Experience coordinating consultants and specialist subcontractors
- Relevant construction, architecture, engineering or technical qualification
- Large-scale mixed-use, residential or commercial project experience
- Experience coordinating façade and specialist subcontractor packages
- Knowledge of BCAR, Building Control and design close-out
- BIM and digital construction experience beneficial
- Coordinate architectural, structural, M&E and subcontractor design information
- Manage design programmes, information release schedules and design actions
- Coordinate consultants and subcontractors to close out technical issues
- Review drawings and technical submittals for coordination and buildability
- Manage design changes, technical queries and design risk
- Maintain design responsibility, Building Control and change control trackers
- Chair and contribute to design meetings and coordination workshops
- Ensure design information aligns with procurement and construction programmes
- Coordinate BCAR, O&M, as-built information and design close-out requirements
- Support and oversee project document control procedures
