With a growing project pipeline in Munster and nationally, they are investing in experienced Electrical and Commissioning Engineers who can bridge the gap between design office and site delivery, ensuring systems are fully compliant and operational at handover.
The Role – Design, Technical, Electrical and Commissioning Engineer
This is a technically focused role combining electrical design, site supervision and commissioning. You will be involved from concept and detailed design through installation oversight, testing and final energisation.
Working closely with project managers, site teams and specialist subcontractors, you will ensure that electrical systems are designed correctly, installed to specification and commissioned to the highest safety and quality standards. Your input will directly impact programme delivery, compliance and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
• Promote a strong safety culture across all electrical installation and commissioning activities
• Participate in risk assessments and review method statements
• Ensure all works comply with current HSE regulations and project specific safety plans
Design and Engineering
• Develop electrical schematics, single line diagrams, layouts and technical specifications
• Carry out load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination and equipment selection
• Ensure compliance with IEC, BS, IEEE and relevant Irish standards
• Review and approve technical submittals, shop drawings and vendor documentation
• Contribute to value engineering and design optimisation
Installation and Site Supervision
• Oversee installation of panels, cabling, earthing, lighting, power distribution and control systems
• Conduct inspections, quality audits and progress reviews
• Coordinate with mechanical, civil and automation teams to avoid clashes and delays
Testing and Commissioning
• Prepare commissioning plans, procedures and method statements
• Lead or support commissioning of switchgear, protection systems, MCCs, motors, drives, UPS, generators and backup systems
• Witness testing, review results and ensure defects are closed out
• Support system energisation and performance verification
Reporting and Documentation
• Prepare commissioning reports, test packs and as built documentation
• Support client inspections, system demonstrations and final handover
• Maintain accurate technical records throughout the project lifecycle
About You
• Qualified Electrician with strong site experience or Degree in Electrical Engineering
• 2 to 5 years experience in electrical design, site supervision or commissioning
• Experience on industrial, commercial or infrastructure projects
• Strong knowledge of HV and LV electrical systems
• Ability to read and produce electrical drawings and specifications
• Experience with protection systems, switchgear, generators and UPS systems
• Exposure to PLC, SCADA or automation systems is desirable
• Strong troubleshooting skills and a practical approach on site
• Organised, detail focused and committed to delivering quality work on programme
