The Company

This international engineering contractor delivers large-scale data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, and power infrastructure projects across Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe.

With a significant pipeline of hyperscale data centre developments secured across Europe, the company continues to expand its commissioning team and is now seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join major mission critical projects in Denmark.

The Role: Electrical Commissioning Engineer

The Electrical Commissioning Engineer will play a key role in the testing, commissioning, energisation, and handover of critical electrical infrastructure on large-scale data centre projects.

Working alongside project managers, construction teams, commissioning specialists, OEMs, and client representatives, you will ensure all electrical systems are tested, commissioned, and handed over in line with project requirements, safety standards, and operational specifications.

This role suits an Electrical Commissioning Engineer with strong technical knowledge of power distribution systems and experience within mission critical, industrial, or data centre environments.

Must Have Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering required
• Must have 5 years' experience in a Commissioning Engineer or Electrical Commissioning role
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and emergency power systems
• Proven experience required carrying out testing and commissioning activities on large-scale projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre or mission critical project experience preferred
• Experience with UPS systems, generators, switchgear, transformers, and backup power systems beneficial
• Knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier standards advantageous
• Experience leading commissioning activities and client witnessing procedures beneficial

Nice to Have

• HV or LV authorisations
• Experience with integrated systems testing (IST)
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers and graduates

Key Responsibilities

• Test and commission electrical systems including switchgear, UPS systems, transformers, generators, and power distribution equipment
• Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and testing protocols
• Carry out functional testing, load bank testing, and failover simulations
• Verify integration between electrical systems and other building services systems
• Ensure redundancy and fault tolerance requirements are achieved across critical infrastructure
• Support emergency power system testing and energisation activities
• Attend commissioning meetings and coordinate activities with project stakeholders
• Prepare commissioning documentation, test records, and handover reports
• Act as Lead Commissioning Engineer on designated systems where required
• Ensure commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with safety, quality, and client requirements
• Provide technical support to project teams and assist in resolving design and installation issues
• Report commissioning progress and technical issues to project management teams
• Support fault diagnosis, investigation, and system optimisation activities
• Mentor junior commissioning engineers and support knowledge transfer within the team

About You

You are a technically strong Electrical Commissioning Engineer with experience working on complex electrical installations and critical infrastructure systems.

You have a strong understanding of commissioning methodologies, testing procedures, and electrical system integration, and you can work effectively alongside construction, engineering, and client teams to deliver successful project outcomes.

You are organised, safety-focused, and capable of managing commissioning activities within demanding programme-driven project environments.
