Electrical Design Engineer Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 3 years’ experience in electrical design within consultancy, utilities, renewable energy, or building services.
- Experience working on Irish or UK projects in sectors such as renewable energy, infrastructure, buildings or utilities.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design standards, Irish/UK regulations, and grid connection requirements.
- Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, electrical calculation software).
- Understanding of MV/HV electrical systems, protection design, and power distribution.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and technical reporting skills.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams.
- Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, single-line diagrams and technical drawings for renewable energy, infrastructure and building projects.
- Design LV/MV/HV electrical systems including power distribution, protection, earthing, lighting, controls, and grid connection solutions.
- Carry out electrical calculations, load assessments, cable sizing, protection studies and fault analysis.
- Prepare technical specifications, design reports, equipment schedules, and tender documentation.
- Ensure all electrical designs comply with industry standards, client requirements, environmental constraints and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate closely with civil, structural, mechanical, environmental and planning teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
- Attend internal and external design meetings, providing clear technical input and design rationale.
- Support project delivery from early-stage feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning.
- Review contractor and supplier submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Assist in grid connection applications and liaise with relevant authorities and utilities where necessary.
- Support risk assessments, design reviews, and quality assurance processes throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the development of renewable energy and infrastructure design methodologies, standards and best practice.
