The Company

This established engineering contractor delivers electrical and engineering solutions across municipal and industrial water and wastewater projects.

Based in Tuam, Co Galway, they have a strong pipeline of water infrastructure work and are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join their multidisciplinary engineering team.

The Role: Electrical Design Engineer

As Electrical Design Engineer, you will produce detailed electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment projects, working across LV distribution, MCCs, switchgear, controls and instrumentation.

You will work closely with project engineers, automation teams, clients and suppliers from design development through procurement, installation and commissioning.

Must Have Requirements

• Relevant Electrical Engineering degree, diploma or trade qualification.
• Strong electrical design experience within water, wastewater, industrial, process or manufacturing environments.
• Good technical knowledge of LV distribution, MCCs, switchgear and electrical controls.
• Experience producing or reviewing SLDs, schematics, cable schedules and electrical calculations.

Preferred Experience

• Water, wastewater or MEICA experience highly desirable.
• Instrumentation and control systems experience beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
• CAD experience advantageous.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical designs for water and wastewater projects.
• Develop SLDs, load schedules, cable calculations and cable schedules.
• Design and specify MCCs, switchgear and control panels.
• Prepare instrumentation designs, schematics and equipment specifications.
• Review client specifications, P&IDs and layout drawings.
• Prepare technical submissions and support equipment procurement.
• Coordinate with clients, suppliers, automation teams and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical support through installation, commissioning and project handover.

About You

You will be a technically strong Electrical Design Engineer with a practical understanding of industrial electrical systems.

You should be comfortable working across detailed design, controls and instrumentation while coordinating with the wider project team to deliver accurate designs to programme.
