The Company

This established Irish mechanical contractor delivers large scale mechanical and building services packages across Ireland and mainland Europe, with a growing presence in the data centre and high tech sectors.

The business has a strong focus on health and safety, quality and structured project delivery, with experienced engineering, site management and EHS teams supporting projects from installation through commissioning. The contractor operates established safety management systems aligned with ISO 45001 standards.

They are now looking for an H&S Advisor to support the delivery of a major data centre project in Belgium.

The Role: H&S Advisor

Based on a large scale data centre project in Belgium, the H&S Advisor will work closely with the Project Manager, site management team and senior EHS personnel to maintain high standards of health and safety across mechanical installation works.

This is a hands on site based position where you will carry out inspections, review RAMS, engage with subcontractors and operatives and ensure works are being completed in line with project procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.

You will have an important role in maintaining a strong safety culture while supporting programme delivery in a busy data centre construction environment.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have previous experience as a H&S Advisor, EHS Advisor or Safety Advisor within construction
• Data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or large scale MEP project experience is required
• Must hold a recognised Health & Safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, Degree or equivalent
• Hands on experience carrying out site inspections, audits, RAMS reviews and safety reporting is required

Preferred Experience

• Previous data centre construction experience preferred
• Mechanical or MEP contractor experience beneficial
• Experience working on European construction projects beneficial
• Strong understanding of permit systems and high risk construction activities

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out regular site safety inspections, audits and site walks
• Support implementation of the project specific Health & Safety plan
• Review RAMS, permits and safe systems of work
• Monitor mechanical subcontractors and site activities for compliance
• Attend toolbox talks, safety meetings and daily coordination meetings
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions
• Maintain accurate EHS documentation, inspection records and reporting
• Work closely with project management and supervisors to identify and close out safety issues
• Promote good safety behaviour across the workforce
• Monitor high risk activities including lifting operations, working at height, hot works and mechanical installation works

About You

You will be a practical H&S Advisor with experience working directly with construction teams on live projects.

A background in data centres, mechanical contracting, MEP, pharmaceutical or other high specification construction environments would suit the position particularly well.

You should be comfortable dealing with supervisors, subcontractors and operatives on site and confident challenging unsafe practices where required while maintaining a practical approach to programme delivery.
