This long established Irish main contractor has built an excellent reputation for delivering high quality education, healthcare, commercial and residential projects throughout Dublin and the wider Leinster region. With a strong focus on quality workmanship, programme delivery and long-term client relationships, they continue to secure major public and private sector developments.
Due to continued growth, they are now seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team on a new €20 million school development in South Dublin. This is an excellent opportunity to join a contractor that invests heavily in its people, promotes from within, and places health and safety at the centre of every project.
The Role: Health & Safety Advisor
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will take ownership of day-to-day health and safety management on a new build education project in South Dublin. Working closely with the site management team, subcontractors and project stakeholders, you will help maintain a positive safety culture while ensuring full compliance with Irish health and safety legislation and company procedures.
This is a hands-on site-based role where your input will directly influence safe working practices, promote continuous improvement and support the successful delivery of the project.

You are a proactive Health & Safety Advisor who enjoys working closely with site teams to create a positive safety culture rather than simply policing compliance. You communicate confidently with subcontractors, management and clients, and understand the importance of balancing programme delivery with maintaining the highest safety standards.
You are organised, professional and committed to continuous improvement, with the ability to identify risks early and implement practical solutions that keep projects operating safely and efficiently.

The Role: Health & Safety Advisor

Must Have Requirements
- Must hold a relevant third level qualification in Health & Safety or a related discipline.
- Must have 3 to 5 years' experience as a Health & Safety Advisor within the Irish construction industry.
- Proven experience carrying out site inspections, audits and risk assessments is required.
- Experience working with HSQE management systems and Irish health and safety legislation.
- Experience with a main contractor on construction projects is highly desirable.
Preferred Experience
- Experience on education, commercial or public sector building projects.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have
- IOSH or additional professional memberships.
- First Aid or Fire Warden certification.
- Experience delivering toolbox talks and safety presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a strong, positive health and safety culture across the project through regular engagement with site teams.
- Carry out routine site inspections, audits and compliance checks, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Review and update Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Operating Procedures and Safety Statements.
- Deliver health and safety inductions for employees, subcontractors and visitors while maintaining accurate training records.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, producing reports and ensuring lessons learned are implemented.
- Identify ongoing training requirements and coordinate mandatory health and safety training.
- Monitor the correct use of PPE and enforce company safety procedures across the project.
- Review subcontractor safety documentation and ensure compliance before works commence.
- Attend project meetings and provide practical health and safety guidance to the wider management team.
- Prepare reports and maintain accurate site documentation in line with company procedures.
