The Company
This Irish construction contractor is looking to strengthen its planning team with a Junior Planner to support the delivery of residential and commercial construction projects across the Dublin region.
Based on West Dublin, the position combines office and site-based working, with approximately four days per week spent on live construction sites. You’ll gain direct exposure to project teams and subcontractors while supporting the planning and delivery of residential, commercial and apartment developments.
The Role: Junior Planner
Working under the guidance of the Senior Planner, you will help ensure construction activities are properly sequenced, coordinated and aligned with the master programme and key project milestones.
You’ll monitor actual site progress against planned performance, identify emerging programme risks and constraints and work with project teams to develop appropriate mitigation and recovery strategies.
The Junior Planner will also support short-term planning, progress reporting, critical path analysis and the integration of design and procurement activities into the construction programme.
This role could suit someone already working in planning or a construction professional coming from a Site Engineer or site management background who wants to develop their career in construction planning.
Must Have Requirements
• Minimum 3 years’ construction experience, ideally within residential or commercial construction
• Strong practical construction knowledge and understanding of site sequencing
• Irish driving licence or equivalent
Preferred Experience
• Apartment development experience preferred
• Exposure to Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject beneficial
• Previous experience in planning, site engineering or site management beneficial
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with construction planning and programming
• Monitor progress against the master programme and key milestones
• Prepare short-term and look-ahead programmes
• Support critical path and programme risk analysis
• Identify programme constraints and assist with mitigation and recovery planning
• Integrate design and procurement requirements into construction programmes
• Work closely with site teams and subcontractors to coordinate upcoming works
• Support progress reporting and programme updates
• Use digital planning systems including P6 and Asta Powerproject
• Support Lean Construction and Last Planner principles
About You
You’ll have a minimum of 3 years’ practical construction experience and a strong understanding of how building projects are sequenced and delivered on site.
You could currently be working as a Junior Planner, Site Engineer or within site management. Some exposure to planning software would be beneficial, but strong practical construction knowledge is more important.
Experience solely within data centre or pharmaceutical construction would not be considered directly relevant for this position.
