The Role: Lead Mechanical Engineer
This is a senior site-based Lead Mechanical Engineer position on a major hyperscale data centre project in Fredericia, Denmark.
As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will take full responsibility for the mechanical engineering function from design coordination through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final client handover.
Working alongside the Project Director and senior management team, you will lead a team of mechanical engineers while coordinating closely with the Electrical, CSA and Commissioning teams to ensure successful programme delivery.
This role requires a practical engineering leader who is comfortable making technical decisions, driving quality standards and managing complex mechanical packages throughout the full construction lifecycle.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer with a strong background delivering complex building services projects within mission critical environments.
You enjoy leading engineering teams, solving technical challenges and maintaining high standards throughout construction and commissioning. Your communication skills allow you to build strong relationships with clients, consultants and site teams while keeping projects moving safely and efficiently.
You take ownership of your work, remain calm under pressure and have the technical expertise required to successfully deliver large mechanical packages on fast-paced data centre projects.

The Role: Lead Mechanical Engineer

As Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will take full responsibility for the mechanical engineering function from design coordination through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning and final client handover.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 10+ years' experience in Mechanical Engineering within the construction sector
- Proven experience delivering large-scale data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial or mission critical projects
- Experience leading mechanical engineering teams on major projects is required
- Strong background in mechanical building services installation and commissioning
- Experience working for a mechanical contractor or M&E contractor on large construction projects
- Previous experience delivering hyperscale data centre projects
- Strong commissioning and system handover experience
- Knowledge of BIM, Navisworks or similar coordination software
- Excellent commercial awareness and technical procurement experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership
- Additional Health & Safety or commissioning qualifications
- Lead the mechanical engineering function across the full project lifecycle
- Manage and mentor the mechanical engineering team, allocating work packages and supporting technical development
- Coordinate mechanical design reviews and technical submissions
- Manage RFIs, technical queries and engineering documentation
- Oversee technical procurement, supplier coordination and equipment approvals
- Monitor quality throughout installation, testing and commissioning
- Manage ITPs, FATs, SATs, pressure testing, flushing, balancing and certification activities
- Coordinate mechanical commissioning and system handovers
- Work closely with Electrical, CSA and Commissioning teams to ensure integrated project delivery
- Ensure all mechanical works are delivered safely and in line with programme requirements
- Identify technical risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Provide structured reporting to senior project management and business leadership
- Maintain excellent relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors throughout project delivery
