The Role – M&E Bid Manager
This is a senior preconstruction leadership role responsible for managing mechanical and electrical bids from initial enquiry through to final submission. Working closely with the Preconstruction Director and senior estimating teams, you will take ownership of complex M&E tender processes, ensuring submissions are commercially robust, strategically aligned and delivered to the highest professional standards.
You will coordinate estimating teams, manage tender programmes and contribute to bid strategy, risk analysis and commercial positioning. The role is ideal for an experienced Senior Estimator, Preconstruction Manager or Bid Manager looking to take on a strategic leadership position within a growing engineering contractor delivering major projects across Ireland and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the full lifecycle of mechanical and electrical bids from tender invitation through to final submission
• Review tender enquiries and assess opportunities based on company capability, capacity and strategic fit
• Prepare tender summaries and recommendations for senior management decision making
• Work with the Preconstruction Director to define bid strategy, win themes and target margins
• Coordinate internal estimating teams and supply chain contributors during the tender process
• Manage tender programmes, milestones and submission deadlines
• Contribute to commercial risk reviews and ensure contractual risks are properly addressed
• Oversee the preparation of high quality technical and commercial proposal documentation
• Ensure submissions are compliant, accurate and professionally presented
• Manage document control, tender data and version management through digital platforms
• Support the development of structured supply chain data and tender benchmarks
• Capture lessons learned from completed bids and support continuous improvement initiatives
About You
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or similar
• Proven experience in a Senior Estimator, Preconstruction Manager or Bid Manager role
• Strong background in mechanical and electrical engineering projects
• Experience working on sectors such as data centres, pharmaceuticals, industrial or commercial construction
• Excellent commercial awareness with strong understanding of contracts, risk and margin management
• Strong leadership and coordination skills with experience managing estimating teams
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple complex tenders simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present key information to senior leadership teams
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital tender or document management systems
