The Role: Mechanical Commissioning Lead
Based in Fredericia, Denmark, you will lead all mechanical commissioning activities on a major hyperscale data centre project, ensuring systems are commissioned safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme, client requirements and industry standards.
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, you will coordinate specialist vendors, subcontractors, package engineers and client representatives throughout the commissioning process. From mechanical completion through integrated systems testing and handover, you will take ownership of commissioning activities while ensuring quality, documentation and programme milestones are achieved.
This is a leadership role suited to an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead with a strong background in large-scale building services, mission critical or industrial projects.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Lead who enjoys taking ownership of technically challenging projects from mechanical completion through final handover. You understand how critical sequencing, planning and documentation are to successful commissioning and have the confidence to coordinate multiple stakeholders while maintaining programme.
You communicate effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and internal project teams, while remaining focused on delivering safe, compliant and fully operational mechanical systems.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have proven experience as a Mechanical Commissioning Lead or Senior Mechanical Commissioning Engineer on large construction projects.
- Mechanical commissioning experience on data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or other mission critical facilities is required.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, chilled water, LTHW, pipework, pumps and mechanical building services systems.
- Proven experience managing commissioning programmes, specialist vendors and client interfaces.
- Full working knowledge of commissioning documentation, test packs, commissioning scripts and system handover procedures.
- Data centre commissioning experience.
- Experience working with international engineering contractors.
- Knowledge of integrated systems testing and IST processes.
- Previous experience mentoring commissioning engineers.
- Familiarity with digital commissioning management platforms.
- Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- CxA, CSA or recognised commissioning certification.
- Experience delivering projects across Europe.
- Strong knowledge of BIM and digital project documentation.
- Lead all mechanical commissioning activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and manage the mechanical commissioning plan in line with the overall project programme.
- Review IFC drawings, specifications and technical documentation before commissioning begins.
- Coordinate commissioning activities with construction, planning and engineering teams.
- Manage specialist vendors throughout installation, testing and commissioning.
- Attend client commissioning meetings and provide regular progress updates.
- Review and approve commissioning procedures, operating descriptions and system setpoints.
- Ensure commissioning scripts, documentation and check sheets meet client requirements.
- Carry out system walkdowns, tag verification and mechanical completion inspections.
- Witness functional testing and verify commissioning activities across all mechanical systems.
- Maintain commissioning trackers, issue logs and weekly progress reports.
- Manage snagging activities and ensure defects are resolved before handover.
- Support client training and final system demonstrations.
- Identify commissioning risks early and work with project teams to maintain programme delivery.
- Liaise with Project Managers and Commercial teams regarding commissioning-related variations or programme impacts.
- Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project quality standards and Health & Safety requirements.
