The Company

This specialist European main contractor delivers large scale data centre and mission critical projects from design and construction through to commissioning.

With a strong pipeline of major developments across Italy and mainland Europe, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join their project team in the Milan region. The business is known for strong engineering standards, well resourced project teams and delivering technically demanding data centre projects to programme.

The Role: Mechanical Construction Manager

As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the day to day delivery of mechanical works on a major data centre project in the Milan region.

You will manage mechanical subcontractors, coordinate HVAC, piping and associated building services, and work closely with Project Managers, planners, design teams and the commercial team to ensure mechanical packages are delivered safely, on programme and to the required quality standards.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 8+ years’ experience within mechanical construction, including site management responsibility
• Proven experience required managing HVAC, piping and associated mechanical services on large scale construction projects
• Strong mechanical subcontractor management and programme delivery experience required
• Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering qualification or relevant industry background required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre, mission critical or large industrial project experience preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning and handover
• European construction project experience beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all mechanical construction activities on site
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, manpower, sequencing and progress
• Drive mechanical works against programme and key project milestones
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submittals
• Maintain QA/QC standards throughout mechanical installations
• Coordinate with electrical, CSA, design and commissioning teams
• Lead mechanical planning, progress and coordination meetings
• Track variations and liaise with the commercial team on costs
• Manage snagging, close out and mechanical handover
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards across all works

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager with a strong background delivering major mechanical packages and managing subcontractors on large scale construction projects.

You should have strong technical knowledge of HVAC, piping, mechanical installations and commissioning, with the ability to identify coordination issues early and keep works moving to programme. Previous data centre or mission critical experience would be particularly beneficial.
