The Company

This specialist data centre main contractor delivers large scale mission critical projects across Europe, providing full turnkey delivery from design and construction through to commissioning.

With a strong pipeline of major European data centre projects, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Lead to take responsibility for mechanical delivery on a large scale development in Skellefteå, Sweden.

The Role: Mechanical Lead

As Mechanical Lead, you will take overall responsibility for mechanical works on the Skellefteå data centre project, ensuring HVAC, piping and associated mechanical services are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

You will lead the mechanical site team and subcontractors while working closely with the Project Manager, planners, design team, commercial team and commissioning teams throughout construction and handover.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 7+ years’ experience within mechanical construction, including experience in a senior management or leadership role
• Proven experience required managing HVAC, piping and mechanical building services on large scale construction projects
• Strong experience managing mechanical subcontractors, programme and multidisciplinary coordination
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or similar discipline required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre or mission critical construction experience preferred
• Large scale industrial project experience beneficial
• Strong knowledge of mechanical commissioning and handover processes
• Experience managing mechanical packages from construction through to final close-out

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all mechanical construction activities across the project
• Manage mechanical subcontractors, manpower and programme delivery
• Coordinate HVAC, piping and associated mechanical systems
• Maintain mechanical QA/QC standards and project documentation
• Coordinate schedules with planners, Project Managers and subcontractors
• Review drawings, technical submittals and construction information
• Chair mechanical coordination, planning and handover meetings
• Drive health and safety standards across all mechanical works
• Track variations and support the commercial team with cost control
• Prepare progress reports for senior management
• Manage snagging and close-out of mechanical works
• Resolve technical, design and coordination issues before they impact programme
• Coordinate with commissioning teams through project completion and handover

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Lead with at least seven years’ mechanical construction experience and a strong background managing major HVAC and piping installations.

You should be comfortable leading subcontractors and mechanical teams, managing programme and quality, and coordinating closely with design, commercial and commissioning teams. Previous data centre or mission critical experience would be a strong advantage.
