The Company
This established engineering contractor specialises in the delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Ireland, covering MEICA design, installation, commissioning and project delivery.
With a strong pipeline of framework work across the North West, they are looking to strengthen their mechanical engineering team in Co Galway. The position offers a good mix of office-based MEICA design and hands-on project delivery across Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Donegal and the wider North West region.
The Role: Mechanical Project Engineer
As Mechanical Project Engineer, you will split your time between MEICA design work from the Co Galway and site-based project management across water and wastewater projects in the North West.
You will be involved from initial site surveys and design coordination through procurement, installation and commissioning, working closely with the wider project team, subcontractors and clients to keep works progressing safely and to programme.
Must Have Requirements
You will have a mechanical engineering background with at least 3 years’ experience and be comfortable working across both design and site delivery.
You should have a practical understanding of mechanical installations and be confident dealing with subcontractors, suppliers and project teams. Experience within water, wastewater, MEICA, utilities or process engineering would be particularly relevant.
This role would suit someone based in Galway, Mayo, Leitrim, Donegal, Cavan or the surrounding North West region who is comfortable travelling between projects.

- Must have 3+ years’ experience in mechanical engineering, project engineering or a similar role
- Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant technical background required
- Hands-on experience required managing mechanical works from design through to installation
- Must be comfortable travelling to projects throughout the North West region
- Water or wastewater treatment project experience preferred
- MEICA project experience beneficial
- Experience with pumps, pipework, mechanical plant and process equipment advantageous
- Previous site surveys and installation management experience preferred
- Support MEICA design and technical coordination from the office
- Carry out site surveys and assess mechanical requirements
- Coordinate mechanical installations across water and wastewater projects
- Manage subcontractors, suppliers and site activities
- Assist with procurement of mechanical plant, equipment and materials
- Monitor programme, quality and Health & Safety requirements
- Resolve technical and installation issues with the wider engineering team
- Support testing, commissioning and project handover
- Liaise with clients, consultants and other project stakeholders
- Maintain project records and provide regular progress updates
