The Role: Piping Designer
An experienced Piping Designer is required to join the engineering team in Co Mayo, working on mechanical and process piping projects across the pharmaceutical and industrial sectors.
You will be responsible for producing detailed piping layouts, 3D models, fabrication drawings and isometric drawings, working closely with mechanical engineers, project managers and site installation teams.
The role will involve taking piping designs from initial layouts through to fabrication and installation, ensuring designs are practical, accurate and coordinated with other engineering disciplines.
Must Have Requirements
You will have a background in mechanical engineering, piping design or process engineering, with practical experience producing piping drawings for industrial installations.
You should be confident working with AutoCAD or 3D piping design software and have a good understanding of how piping systems are fabricated and installed on site.
Strong attention to detail, good communication skills and the ability to coordinate with engineers, fabrication teams and site personnel are important.
This position would suit a Piping Designer who enjoys the technical side of mechanical engineering and wants to work on a variety of industrial and process piping projects in Mayo and the wider West of Ireland.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have previous experience as a Piping Designer or Mechanical Piping Designer on industrial or process engineering projects.
- Proven experience using AutoCAD Plant 3D, AutoCAD or similar piping design software is required.
- Strong knowledge of piping layouts, isometric drawings, P&IDs and fabrication drawings.
- Experience designing mechanical or process piping systems within pharmaceutical, industrial or manufacturing environments is required.
- Experience working on pharmaceutical or life sciences projects.
- Knowledge of stainless steel process piping, utility systems and mechanical services.
- Familiarity with Navisworks, Revit or other 3D coordination software.
- Understanding of piping specifications, supports, valves and associated mechanical equipment.
- Develop detailed 2D and 3D piping designs for mechanical and process engineering projects.
- Produce piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Interpret P&IDs, engineering specifications and client design requirements.
- Coordinate piping routes with mechanical equipment, structural steelwork and other building services.
- Work closely with mechanical engineers, project managers and site teams to ensure designs are suitable for fabrication and installation.
- Carry out design reviews and resolve clashes or technical issues before installation.
- Prepare and update piping drawings, material take-offs and design documentation.
- Ensure piping designs comply with relevant industry standards, project specifications and quality requirements.
- Support fabrication and installation teams with technical queries and drawing revisions.
- Maintain accurate drawing registers and ensure design information is issued in line with project programmes.
