The Company

A Tier 1 Irish main contractor with a strong track record delivering major civil engineering, utilities and infrastructure projects across Ireland.

The contractor has a significant pipeline of infrastructure work across Leinster and is currently delivering a major electricity grid upgrade in Co Kildare area. This is a technically demanding civil engineering project involving major underground cable and associated infrastructure works.


The Role: Project Manager

This is a senior site-based Project Manager position with overall responsibility for the delivery of a major grid infrastructure project in Co Kildare.

You will lead the project across programme, safety, quality, commercial performance and client delivery, working closely with the engineering, commercial, design and construction teams.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for driving the works through each stage of delivery, managing subcontractors and resources, identifying programme risks and ensuring the project remains on track.


Must Have Requirements

• Must have significant Project Manager experience delivering major civil engineering or infrastructure projects in Ireland
• Proven experience required working with a Tier 1 or large civil engineering contractor
• Must have strong experience managing multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors and programme delivery
• Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline required
• Strong knowledge of Irish construction health and safety requirements is essential

Preferred Experience

• Utilities, power, grid, underground cable or energy infrastructure experience preferred
• Experience delivering large-scale civil engineering projects in live infrastructure environments beneficial
• Strong commercial and contract management experience
• Experience dealing directly with clients, consultants, statutory bodies and utility stakeholders

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for successful project delivery from construction through to completion and handover
• Manage the project programme, ensuring key milestones and contractual dates are achieved
• Lead engineering, commercial, design and construction teams across the project
• Coordinate civil works, underground services, utility interfaces and specialist subcontractors
• Maintain high standards of health, safety and environmental performance across the site
• Monitor project progress and identify programme, technical and commercial risks at an early stage
• Work closely with the commercial team on budgets, forecasts, variations, procurement and cash flow
• Manage subcontractor procurement, performance and coordination
• Ensure works are delivered in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality plans and statutory requirements
• Chair project progress, coordination and subcontractor meetings
• Maintain accurate reporting across programme, cost, quality, safety and overall project performance
• Build strong working relationships with the client, design team, consultants and supply chain
• Drive accountability across the site team and ensure issues are closed out quickly
• Support project value, cost control and overall financial performance

About You

You will be an experienced Project Manager with a strong civil engineering or infrastructure background and a proven record of delivering complex projects in Ireland.

You should be comfortable taking full ownership of a large site team and coordinating engineering, commercial, design and subcontractor functions.

A practical understanding of utilities, underground services, civil engineering interfaces and programme delivery will be important. Experience on grid, power, energy or major utility infrastructure would be particularly relevant.

You will need to be commercially aware, strong with clients and capable of making decisions that keep the project moving while maintaining safety, quality and contractual standards.
