The Company

This established Irish engineering contractor has built a strong reputation for delivering mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects across the Irish water sector. Working closely with public utilities and local authorities, they provide design, installation, commissioning and maintenance solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities nationwide.

Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to join their team based in Carlow, Co Carlow. The role combines office-based project management with regular visits to sites across Ireland.

The Role: Project Manager

As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from initial design through procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover.

Working alongside design engineers, site teams, subcontractors and client representatives, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This is a hands-on role requiring strong technical knowledge, commercial awareness and excellent project coordination skills.

Must Have Requirements

  • Must have 10+ years' experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with significant Project Management experience.
  • Proven experience delivering mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong understanding of project delivery, commercial reporting and contract administration.
  • Full driving licence with willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.
Preferred Experience

  • Water or wastewater treatment project experience preferred.
  • AutoCAD experience with the ability to review and update construction drawings.
  • Experience with plant design, installation and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of public sector contracts and utility infrastructure projects.
Nice to Have

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Health & Safety training including Safe Pass.
  • Experience preparing technical submissions and O&M documentation.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of water and wastewater infrastructure projects from design through to handover.
  • Coordinate design development, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
  • Review client specifications and ensure contractual compliance throughout delivery.
  • Prepare and monitor detailed project programmes to achieve key milestones.
  • Manage subcontractors, suppliers and directly employed site personnel.
  • Prepare method statements, risk assessments and project documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets, variations and commercial performance.
  • Carry out regular site inspections to oversee progress, quality and safety.
  • Liaise with client representatives, Resident Engineers and design consultants.
  • Maintain project documentation including technical submissions, safety files and O&M manuals.
  • Ensure quality control procedures are implemented across all project activities.
  • Update construction drawings and coordinate vendor information where required.
About You

You are an experienced Project Manager with a strong background delivering mechanical and electrical infrastructure projects within the Irish construction or utilities sector. You are comfortable managing multiple stakeholders while maintaining a strong focus on programme, quality, commercial performance and health and safety.

You possess excellent communication skills, enjoy solving technical challenges and are confident leading projects from initial concept through to successful completion.
