The Role Senior BMS Engineer
As Senior BMS Engineer, you will take full technical ownership of the Building Management System package on a major data centre project in Milan. This is a hands on leadership role focused on engineering coordination, design review, subcontractor management and commissioning readiness.
You will be responsible for ensuring that the BMS design, installation and commissioning align fully with project specifications, quality standards and programme milestones. Your input will directly impact system functionality, client acceptance and successful project handover.
Key Responsibilities
• Take ownership of Tier 2 BMS engineering and design submittals including I O lists, equipment schedules, schematics and functional specifications
• Review and coordinate mechanical plant integration into the BMS ensuring full compliance with project requirements
• Manage specialist BMS subcontractors on site ensuring quality, safety and programme adherence
• Oversee panel design, wiring layouts, interlocks and control strategies
• Witness factory acceptance testing and support off site testing processes
• Manage change control ensuring all revisions are documented, auditable and approved
• Attend weekly progress meetings, whiteboard sessions and coordination reviews
• Participate in W1, W2 and W3 walkdowns and support system readiness reviews
• Ensure commissioning activities align with the Quality Plan and project specifications
• Lead system demonstrations to the client and relevant authorities
• Deliver complete O and M manuals, as built documentation and close out reports
• Maintain accurate site records and reporting documentation
About You
• Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation or related discipline
• 5 plus years experience in BMS engineering on data centre, pharmaceutical, high tech or other mission critical projects
• Strong understanding of BMS controls, HVAC plant integration, I O schedules and control panel design
• Experience managing specialist subcontractors and coordinating with mechanical and electrical teams
• Proven ability to interpret functional specifications and deliver fully operational control systems
• Strong knowledge of testing, commissioning and system handover procedures
• Organised, detail focused and confident working in a fast paced construction environment
• Committed to delivering quality systems safely and on programme
