Our client is a specialist data centre contractor delivering major turnkey data centre projects across Europe, covering civil, structural, architectural, mechanical and electrical works through to commissioning and handover.
They are seeking an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager to oversee mechanical and electrical commissioning activities on a major data centre development in Helsinki, Finland.
The Role: Senior Commissioning Manager
As Senior Commissioning Manager, you will take responsibility for managing the M&E commissioning programme, coordinating specialist vendors and leading the commissioning team through testing, verification and final handover.
Reporting to the Commissioning Lead, you will work closely with project management, engineering teams, QA/QC personnel and client representatives to ensure commissioning activities are delivered safely, on programme and to the required technical standards.
The role covers both Contractor Furnished, Contractor Installed (CFCI) and Owner Furnished, Contractor Installed (OFCI) equipment packages.
This is a fully site-based position in Helsinki, with a choice of 17 days on, 4 days off or 5 weeks on, 1 week off rotations.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Senior Commissioning Manager or Commissioning Manager with a strong mechanical or electrical background and proven experience delivering complex M&E commissioning programmes.
You will be confident managing commissioning teams, coordinating specialist vendors and resolving technical issues across mechanical and electrical systems.
Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain programme delivery and manage client expectations on a major data centre project.

- Must have a degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a minimum of 5 years' experience in a commissioning leadership role on data centre or mission-critical projects.
- Proven experience managing M&E commissioning programmes and supervising Commissioning Engineers.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, with a background in either discipline.
- Experience coordinating specialist vendors, subcontractors and client stakeholders throughout commissioning.
- Strong understanding of EHS requirements associated with mechanical and electrical testing and commissioning.
- Previous experience managing commissioning on large-scale European data centre projects.
- Experience coordinating CFCI and OFCI equipment packages through testing and handover.
- Knowledge of Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Field Witness Testing (FWT) and commissioning documentation.
- Experience managing commissioning schedules, technical reporting and multidisciplinary design reviews.
- Strong client-facing experience within a multi-contractor construction environment.
- Lead and manage Commissioning Engineers across a major data centre project in Helsinki.
- Take responsibility for the overall mechanical and electrical commissioning programme, including sequencing, milestones and progress reporting.
- Define commissioning work scopes and coordinate delivery with specialist vendors and subcontractors.
- Manage commissioning activities across CFCI and OFCI equipment packages.
- Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests, Field Witness Tests and associated vendor testing activities.
- Monitor commissioning progress, identify programme risks and implement corrective actions.
- Act as a key point of contact for client representatives, engineering teams and commissioning stakeholders.
- Participate in detailed design reviews and coordinate technical queries with designers and client teams.
- Chair and attend commissioning coordination meetings with internal teams, vendors and client representatives.
- Work closely with QA/QC teams to ensure commissioning activities meet project specifications and quality requirements.
- Oversee commissioning documentation, including test scripts, compliance statements, approvals and sign-off records.
- Prepare commissioning progress reports and provide regular updates to the Commissioning Lead.
- Manage commissioning close-out and ensure documentation is completed for final handover.
