The Role – Senior Electrical Design Engineer
This is a senior-level electrical design role within a growing building services consultancy, offering full involvement across the project lifecycle from concept design through to construction and handover.
You will lead the electrical design elements of projects, ensuring systems are robust, efficient, and fully coordinated with mechanical and architectural requirements. The role suits an experienced electrical design engineer with strong Irish consultancy experience who is confident delivering projects rather than just supporting them.
Key Responsibilities
Salary: €60,000 – €75,000 DOE

You will lead the electrical design elements of projects, ensuring systems are robust, efficient, and fully coordinated with mechanical and architectural requirements. The role suits an experienced electrical design engineer with strong Irish consultancy experience who is confident delivering projects rather than just supporting them.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and coordination of building services systems across multiple projects
- Develop electrical concepts including power distribution, lighting design, emergency systems, and energy-efficient solutions
- Prepare detailed calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical systems, architects, and structural teams
- Manage design deliverables to ensure projects are delivered on programme and within budget
- Liaise with ESB Networks, utility providers, and local authorities for incoming services
- Support tender preparation, respond to technical queries, and review contractor submissions
- Review electrical shop drawings, equipment submittals, and installation quality on site
- Attend site meetings, manage RFIs, and oversee design changes during construction
- Monitor commissioning, testing, and handover of electrical systems
- Mentor junior engineers and support development of the electrical team
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
- 5 to 10 years experience in electrical design within an Irish building services consultancy
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems including LV distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and life safety systems
- Good understanding of Irish regulations, standards, and compliance requirements
- Proven ability to deliver electrical design packages from concept to handover
- Strong coordination and communication skills across multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and take ownership of delivery
- Full driving licence with flexibility for site visits
Salary: €60,000 – €75,000 DOE
