The Role Senior Project Quantity Surveyor
This is a senior level Project Quantity Surveyor position requiring a minimum of 5 years experience on electrical projects, with 7 years experience considered ideal. You will take full commercial responsibility for one or multiple contracts, ensuring maximum commercial return from tender stage through to final account.
Working closely with the Project Manager, Planning Engineer and Commercial Manager, you will control costs, manage risk, lead subcontractor accounts and ensure all contractual obligations are met. This role suits an experienced Electrical Quantity Surveyor ready to step into a more senior commercial position with greater autonomy and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Full commercial management of electrical engineering contracts from tender handover through to final accounts
• Preparation of budgets, cost reports, BOQs and profit plans
• Submission and agreement of monthly interim valuations including remeasurements, variations, site changes and dayworks
• Administration of construction contracts and compliance with client requirements
• Management of subcontractor procurement, interim valuations, payments, retentions and final accounts
• Identification and reporting of commercial risks to senior management
• Costing and negotiation of change orders, contract claims and daily work variations
• Detailed commercial reporting to the Project Manager and Commercial Manager
• Close collaboration with the Planning Engineer to align cost reporting with programme performance
• Chairing and attending interim commercial meetings with clients and internal project teams
• Maintaining accurate commercial records to support cost tracking and audits
• Negotiating effectively with clients and their representatives to protect project margins
• Mentoring junior Quantity Surveyors and commercial team members
• Ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 quality management systems and internal management procedures
About You
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics
• 5 to 7 years experience as a Quantity Surveyor on electrical or MEP construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and contract law
• Proven experience managing interim applications, remeasurement, variations and final accounts
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• High attention to detail with strong commercial awareness
• Ability to work independently and prioritise effectively
• Full clean driving licence and eligible to work in Ireland
• Professional, driven and committed to delivering profitable, high quality projects
