With a strong pipeline of design projects and a collaborative engineering team, they are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Cork office. The position offers flexible working arrangements, technical development and long term career progression.
The Role: Senior Mechanical Engineer
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Cork, you will take responsibility for the mechanical services design and delivery of projects from initial concept through to completion.
You will work closely with clients, architects, structural engineers and the wider design team, ensuring mechanical building services are designed to meet project requirements, current regulations and energy efficiency standards.
The role will involve managing multiple projects, coordinating technical design information and supporting junior engineers while maintaining high standards of technical delivery.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Mechanical Engineer with at least 6 years' experience in building services design and a strong technical background in consultancy projects.
You are comfortable managing mechanical design packages, dealing directly with clients and coordinating with other engineering disciplines.
You will have practical experience using Revit MEP, AutoCAD and mechanical design software, along with a good understanding of Irish building regulations and sustainable building design.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously will be important.
A full driving licence and access to a car are required.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 6+ years' experience in mechanical building services design within an engineering consultancy.
- Level 8 degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering required.
- Proven experience designing mechanical services across commercial, healthcare, education, residential or industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of Irish building regulations, relevant BS, IS and EN standards and mechanical services design principles.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Revit MEP and relevant building services design software required.
- Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership.
- Experience using IES or Hevacomp for building services calculations and design.
- Knowledge of energy efficient building design and renewable energy systems.
- Previous experience in client facing engineering consultancy roles.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
- Lead mechanical building services design from concept through to detailed design and construction.
- Design and coordinate HVAC, heating, ventilation, plumbing and associated mechanical systems.
- Prepare technical specifications, design calculations, drawings and reports.
- Coordinate mechanical design information using AutoCAD and Revit MEP.
- Liaise with clients, architects, consultants and contractors throughout project delivery.
- Ensure designs comply with Irish building regulations and relevant engineering standards.
- Manage project deadlines, design deliverables and technical documentation.
- Support junior engineers and contribute to technical reviews.
- Incorporate energy efficient design principles and renewable energy solutions.
- Attend design meetings and site inspections as required.
