The Role – Senior Mechanical Estimator
As Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will take ownership of large and complex mechanical tenders from initial enquiry through to submission. Based in the Dublin office, you will work closely with the Estimating Manager, Pre Construction team and senior leadership, playing a key role in securing new projects and shaping bid strategy.
This is a senior position with real influence over tender outcomes, mentoring junior estimators and contributing to the continuous improvement of estimating procedures and standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Review tender drawings, specifications and schedules to fully understand scope and risk
• Complete detailed mechanical take offs and prepare accurate cost estimates and BOQs
• Source, assess and validate subcontractor and supplier quotations for compliance and completeness
• Identify risks, opportunities and value engineering options within tenders
• Present completed estimates to senior management and directors
• Coordinate closely with electrical estimators to ensure integrated MEP pricing
• Lead and mentor junior mechanical estimators, managing workload and output quality
• Maintain strong tender document control and estimating records
• Ensure contingencies and allowances are appropriate for project risk profile
• Communicate effectively with clients, supply chain and internal teams throughout the tender process
About You
• Strong background in mechanical estimating within an M&E contracting environment
• Proven experience delivering mechanical tenders from enquiry through to award
• In depth technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical services and process pipework
• Ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications and produce accurate take offs
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
• Confident working autonomously on large scale, high value tenders
• Excellent organisational, analytical and time management skills
• Comfortable mentoring junior team members and leading estimating activities
