The Role – Senior Mechanical Pre-Construction Manager This is a senior-level mechanical pre-construction role focused on leading the front-end delivery of large-scale projects. You will take ownership of the pre-construction phase, ensuring all mechanical aspects are thoroughly planned, costed, and aligned with programme and client expectations.

Working closely with internal design, commercial, and delivery teams, you will play a key role in shaping how projects are delivered from the outset, ensuring technical accuracy, buildability, and cost efficiency across complex mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical pre-construction activities from concept through to tender submission
• Review specifications, drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation
• Prepare detailed mechanical estimates, budgets, and project programmes
• Drive value engineering and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
• Coordinate with design, procurement, and project teams to ensure full alignment
• Manage risk assessments and resolve technical challenges early in the process
• Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout pre-construction
• Support planning for installation, commissioning, and handoverMentor and guide engineers and pre-construction team members
• Ensure full compliance with health, safety, quality, and environmental standards

About You

• Strong mechanical background with experience in pipework, pumps, utilities, or process systems
• Proven experience in pre-construction, estimating, or mechanical project planning
• Comfortable reviewing mechanical designs, drawings, and specifications
• Background can be trade-based or degree-qualified in mechanical engineering
• Strong commercial awareness including cost control and value engineering
• Experience working on industrial, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing projects
• Effective leader with the ability to coordinate technical teams
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• Detail-focused with a commitment to quality and programme delivery
