The Company
This major civil engineering and infrastructure main contractor has a strong track record delivering technically demanding energy and infrastructure projects across Ireland.
Their Energy & Industry division delivers major transmission, distribution and energy infrastructure works, covering design, construction and commissioning. With a strong pipeline of work in Dublin and across Ireland, they are looking to strengthen their commercial team with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor.
The Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will join the commercial team in Dublin, taking responsibility for the commercial management of major gas transmission and energy infrastructure works.
The projects involve civil engineering works, high-pressure pipeline infrastructure and AGI installations. You will manage forecasting, procurement, cost control, CVRs, cash flow, valuations, change management and subcontractor accounts while working closely with the project team and supporting junior commercial staff.
Must Have Requirements
• Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Economics
• Strong commercial experience within civil engineering works is required
• Excellent knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement
• Full driving licence required
Preferred Experience
• Working towards Chartered Quantity Surveyor status or equivalent
• Gas pipeline and AGI installation experience beneficial
• Solar farm installation experience beneficial
• Estimating and take-off experience beneficial
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and maintain project forecasts, Cost to Complete reports, CVRs and commercial reporting
• Manage subcontract and material procurement, including ITTs, appointments and subcontract accounts
• Prepare valuations, applications for payment and supporting commercial documentation
• Manage contract administration, change control and the preparation and agreement of compensation events
• Monitor project costs, cash flow and WIP while identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts through to final account
• Maintain accurate commercial records and manage relationships with clients and the wider project team
• Support and mentor junior commercial staff while assisting with work-winning activities where required
About You
You will be an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong civil engineering and commercial background.
You should be comfortable managing the full commercial lifecycle of major infrastructure works, including procurement, forecasting, CVRs, valuations, subcontractor accounts, change management, claims and final accounts.
Strong contract knowledge, commercial awareness and negotiation skills are important. Previous experience on gas pipelines, AGI installations or similar energy infrastructure projects would be particularly relevant.
