The Company

This Irish Tier 1 main contractor is delivering a major motorway and infrastructure project in Cork, involving significant bridge structures, retaining walls, culverts, reinforced concrete works, earthworks and associated highway infrastructure.

They are looking for an experienced Site Agent with a strong structures and civil engineering background to take responsibility for a key section of the works. The position is full-time on site in Cork and will involve working closely with the wider project, engineering and commercial teams.

The Role: Site Agent

As Site Agent, you will be responsible for the safe, commercial, technical and operational delivery of structures works on this major motorway project.

Reporting directly to the Contract Manager or Senior Project Manager, you will lead engineering, supervisory and subcontractor teams across bridge structures, retaining walls, precast concrete elements, culverts, reinforced concrete structures, temporary works and earthworks interfaces.

You will have responsibility for programme delivery, quality, safety, technical compliance and coordination of the works through to handover.

Must Have Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline
• Temporary Works Coordinator qualification required
• Extensive experience managing structures and civil engineering works
• Proven experience with reinforced concrete, temporary works and major infrastructure projects
• Strong leadership experience managing engineering, supervisory and subcontractor teams

Preferred Experience

• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership beneficial
• NEC contract knowledge and commercial management experience desirable
• Experience across major transportation, marine, energy or heavy civil engineering projects beneficial

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of structural and civil engineering works on site
• Manage bridge structures, retaining walls, culverts, reinforced concrete works and associated infrastructure
• Coordinate engineering teams, supervisors, subcontractors, resources and site logistics
• Develop and manage construction programmes and delivery strategies
• Review RAMS, construction methodologies, engineering solutions and design interfaces
• Manage temporary works including falsework, formwork, propping and associated permit systems
• Maintain and review the Temporary Works Register and ensure approved procedures are followed
• Ensure works comply with TII specifications, approved drawings, project specifications and ITPs
• Lead site safety inspections, audits, investigations and corrective actions
• Ensure suitable risk assessments, method statements, permits and safe systems of work are implemented
• Identify technical risks and resolve engineering issues before they affect programme or quality
• Implement and maintain project quality management systems
• Identify variations, compensation events, contractual changes and associated project risks
• Liaise closely with the Contract Manager, Senior Project Manager, commercial team and wider project team

About You

You are an experienced Site Agent or structures professional with a strong background in major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

You will be comfortable taking ownership of complex structural works, coordinating engineering and subcontractor teams and managing temporary works, quality and programme requirements. Strong technical knowledge of reinforced concrete, structures and heavy civil engineering is essential.

You will also need the leadership and communication skills to work effectively with the project management, engineering, commercial and site teams throughout delivery.
