Construction Manager Mechanical – Data Centre
Italy
Leading International M&E Contractor delivering Hyperscale Data Centres across Europe
Excellent Salary Package, Rotation, Accommodation, Flights and Benefits
The Company
This contractor is recognised as a specialist in mechanical and electrical delivery on large scale data centre and mission critical projects across Europe. Their name is closely associated with high performance technical builds where programme certainty, safety and installation quality are non negotiable.
With a strong pipeline of data centre projects in Italy and mainland Europe, they are continuing to grow their site leadership teams. Their focus is simple: deliver complex mechanical packages safely, cleanly and on time, with experienced Construction Managers who take full ownership of site delivery.
The Role – Construction Manager Mechanical
As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take full responsibility for on site mechanical delivery from pre mobilisation through to commissioning and handover on a major data centre project in Milan.
You will represent the Project Manager on site, leading subcontractors, coordinating with electrical and CSA teams, and ensuring that all mechanical installations meet the highest standards of safety, quality and programme control. This is a hands on leadership role on a live data centre construction project, not a desk based coordination position.
Key Responsibilities
Health and Safety
• Lead site inductions, toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
• Enforce RAMS, method statements and PPE compliance across all mechanical activities
• Maintain plant logs, inspection records and weekly safety checks
• Drive a proactive safety culture across mechanical subcontractors
Programme and Planning
• Contribute to the overall construction programme and develop short term lookaheads
• Sequence mechanical works in line with project milestones and commissioning strategy
• Monitor daily productivity and update progress against programme
• Identify risks early and implement corrective actions to maintain delivery dates
Subcontractor and Team Management
• Manage mechanical subcontractors to ensure scope, quality and deadlines are achieved
• Coordinate closely with electrical, BMS and CSA teams to avoid clashes and delays
• Chair coordination meetings and represent mechanical delivery in client reviews
• Ensure mobilisation and demobilisation are structured and controlled
Quality Control and Technical Oversight
• Review drawings, technical submittals and installation standards prior to works commencing
• Enforce Inspection and Test Plans and track inspection sign offs
• Mark up drawings to reflect installation and testing progress
• Close snags efficiently and drive a zero surprise approach to handover
• Protect and manage free issue equipment and specialist plant
Reporting and Documentation
• Maintain a clear and accurate site diary
• Track variations and notify commercial teams of changes
• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on progress, risk and performance
• Ensure accurate as built documentation is produced for final handover
About You
• Strong background in mechanical installation on large scale construction projects
• Experience delivering mechanical packages on data centres, pharmaceutical, industrial or mission critical builds
• Proven ability to lead subcontractors and coordinate full M&E services on site
• Clear understanding of commissioning strategy and handover processes
• Direct and practical leadership style with a strong focus on safety and quality
• Able to plan ahead, communicate clearly and resolve issues without escalation
