The Company

This leading engineering consultancy specialises in the design and delivery of complex mission critical, data centre, pharmaceutical, commercial, and advanced technology projects across Ireland and Europe.

With a growing portfolio of hyperscale and colocation data centre developments, the company continues to expand its electrical design team and is now seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support major projects from concept design through to construction and commissioning.

The Role: Electrical Design Engineer

The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and coordination of electrical building services systems on large-scale data centre developments across Ireland and Europe.

Working within a multidisciplinary design team, you will contribute to all stages of project delivery, from concept and feasibility studies through to detailed design, technical reviews, site support, and commissioning.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on some of Europe's most technically challenging data centre projects while developing specialist expertise within the mission critical sector.

Must Have Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline required
• Must have 3 years' experience in electrical building services design
• Strong understanding of electrical power systems and building services design principles required
• Experience using industry-standard electrical design software required
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre or mission critical project experience preferred
• Experience with hyperscale data centre developments beneficial
• Knowledge of Tier III and Tier IV design principles advantageous
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership preferred

Nice to Have

• Experience with European and international design standards
• Revit and BIM coordination experience
• Exposure to commissioning and site support activities

Key Responsibilities

• Develop electrical designs for hyperscale and colocation data centre projects
• Design MV and LV power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, generators, and associated infrastructure
• Prepare calculations, specifications, reports, and technical documentation
• Produce and review single-line diagrams, load schedules, cable calculations, and coordination studies
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, civil, and BIM teams throughout project delivery
• Attend client meetings and participate in technical design reviews
• Support projects through concept, detailed design, construction, and commissioning stages
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and client specifications
• Carry out site inspections and provide technical support during construction phases
• Assist with troubleshooting and commissioning activities where required

About You

You are an Electrical Design Engineer with experience delivering building services projects and a strong technical understanding of electrical systems design.

You have excellent attention to detail, enjoy solving technical challenges, and can work effectively within multidisciplinary teams on complex engineering projects.

You are motivated to develop your expertise within the rapidly growing data centre sector and are looking for exposure to large-scale international projects.
