As an Electrical Engineer you will work on the design, installation, testing, commissioning and support of electrical and instrumentation systems on infrastructure projects particularly in water, wastewater, pumping stations, treatment plants, and associated civil works in Cork.

You will interface with civil and mechanical engineering teams, control & automation, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to ensure that electrical systems meet specification, safety, regulatory and performance requirements.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute technically from concept stage through to final handover, and support post-commissioning operations if required.

Electrical Engineer Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in electrical / MEICA design and on-site experience in infrastructure / utility / process / water & wastewater projects
  • Strong knowledge of power systems, switchgear, cable sizing, protection coordination, earthing, fault current analysis, etc.
  • Experience in control & automation interfacing (PLC, SCADA, instrumentation)
  • Proficient with electrical design software (e.g. ETAP, SKM, EPLAN, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar)
  • Strong technical drafting skills and ability to read/produce schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Good understanding of regulatory standards and safety practices
  • Excellent problem solving and fault finding skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills — able to interface with contractors, clients, multidisciplinary teams
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, manage time and priorities
  • Willingness to travel to sites (within Ireland and occasionally abroad) and work on site installations
  • Full clean driver’s licence

As an Electrical Engineer:
  • Design electrical power systems for infrastructure projects: distribution, switchgear, cabling, protection, earthing/grounding, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, etc.
  • Specify, procure and liaise with vendors/suppliers for electrical equipment (cables, switchgear, panels, motors, instrumentation)
  • Prepare electrical schematics, single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and load calculations
  • Perform load analyses, fault current studies, short circuit / coordination studies, voltage drop calculations
  • Support control system integration (e.g. PLC, SCADA) and interface with instrumentation & automation teams
  • Oversee installation, oversee site electrical contractors, review works for compliance to design and safety
  • Supervise testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical systems
  • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, method statements, design documentation and as-built documentation
  • Collaborate with other disciplines (civil, structural, mechanical) to ensure coordination and integration
  • Participate in project meetings, review design changes, coordinate with client/consultants
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations and good engineering practice (e.g. IEC, EN, I.S., local regulations)
  • Support maintenance, operations or O&M teams in the field as needed post-handover

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €60,000 plus package.
