We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic power-engineering business specialising in MV and LV systems, renewable energy connections, and industrial power distribution based out of Co Louth.

You will play a pivotal role in driving the technical excellence, innovation, and operational delivery of complex electrical engineering projects (design, installation, commissioning, lifecycle maintenance) in the industrial, commercial, utility and renewables sectors

Lead Electrical Engineer Skills:
  • Chartered engineer or equivalent with a degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/MEng) and substantial experience in electrical power engineering (MV/LV systems, substations, wind/renewables, power distribution).
  • Proven experience leading and managing engineering teams, as well as complex multi-discipline projects from concept through commissioning and handover.
  • Deep technical knowledge of medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) distribution systems, switchgear, protection & control systems, power quality issues and asset management.
  • Strong familiarity with commissioning/testing of electrical systems (e.g., current injection, relay testing, hi-pot, factory acceptance tests).
  • Excellent project management and commercial awareness: cost control, schedule management, contract and vendor interface.
  • High level of communication and stakeholder-management skills; ability to work across internal teams, clients and external partners.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience working in renewable energy (wind farm connections, solar utility scale) or utility sectors.
  • Experience with remote monitoring/asset health systems, power-quality analytics, predictive maintenance.
  • Membership of relevant professional engineering bodies (e.g., Engineers Ireland).
  • Experience with business development and tendering within the power engineering sector.

As a Lead Electrical Engineer:
  • Lead the engineering design, development and delivery of electrical power systems: MV/LV switchgear, substations, renewable connections, power quality and reliability solutions.
  • Oversee multi-discipline engineering teams (design engineers, commissioning engineers, site engineers, contractors) to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to budget.
  • Define and own technical standards, design guidelines, safety policies and best-practice procedures for electrical distribution systems.
  • Review, approve and sign-off electrical engineering deliverables: schematics, single line diagrams, equipment specifications, technical calculation reports, testing/commissioning plans.
  • Provide technical leadership in fault-finding, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvement programmes (power factor correction, harmonics, asset health).
  • Interface with clients, utility companies, OEMs and subcontractors to ensure technical compliance, coordination and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Manage and mentor a high-performance engineering team: recruit, train, set objectives, review performance and foster continuous professional development.
  • Support business development: contribute to tender responses, technical bids, feasibility studies and innovation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards and regulation (e.g., IEC, BS, EN, local grid codes), quality assurance, HSE and environmental requirements.
  • Champion safety culture: risk assessments, method statements, safe systems of work and drive a zero-incident mindset across engineering operations.

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €85,000 plus package to and more.
