Electrical Engineer - Water/Wastewater Projects

You are a motivated Electrical Engineer with relevant water or wastewater experience looking to join an expanding team in Dublin. You will be responsible for design, specification, and implementation of electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and associated infrastructure. You will work closely with civil, mechanical, process, instrumentation & control teams, and with clients, contractors, and regulators.

Electrical Engineer Skills:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant experience (typically 3-7 years, depending on level) in the water / wastewater sector. Experience in treatment plants, pumping stations, etc.
• Strong electrical design skills: power distribution, motor control, protection, lighting, earthing, cable sizing.
• Experience with software tools such as AutoCAD / Revit, ETAP / SKM / similar for power studies, lighting design tools.
• Solid understanding of relevant standards, regulations, and health & safety requirements in Ireland / EU

As an Electrical Engineer:

• Design and specification of electrical systems for water/wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, sludge handling facilities, etc.
• Prepare detailed electrical engineering deliverables: single-line diagrams, power distribution, motor control, lighting, cable routing, earthing, protection & switchgear.
• Carry out load calculations, fault level studies, coordination studies, short circuit, and protection settings.
• Select and specify electrical equipment (motors, switchgear, MCCs, transformers, variable speed drives, UPS, backup power).
• Ensure compliance with Irish / EU / international electrical standards and safety regulations (e.g. IEC, EN, ESB G83/G59, Health & Safety).
• Work with Instrumentation & Control / SCADA teams on interface points.
• Provide support during procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and testing phases.
• Carry out site visits, inspections, and troubleshooting / fault investigations where required.
• Liaise with clients, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements, environmental constraints, and operational needs are met.
• Maintain high standards of documentation, quality assurance, and cost control.

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €70,000 plus package to and more.
