The Role Engineer Estimator
This is a technical and commercially focused Engineer Estimator role within a busy building services estimation team. You will combine mechanical engineering knowledge with strong commercial awareness to prepare detailed HVAC plant quotations and support mechanical system design for live projects.
Working closely with consultant engineers, mechanical contractors, suppliers and the external sales team, you will play a key role in securing projects across the commercial, industrial and residential sectors. Your input will directly influence project specifications, pricing strategy and overall sales growth within the HVAC division.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare detailed quotations for HVAC plant including heating and cooling systems for commercial and residential building services projects
• Design mechanical HVAC systems for domestic and industrial applications in collaboration with consulting engineers and contractor clients
• Review technical specifications, drawings and tender documentation for mechanical services projects
• Provide technical advice and product selection guidance to contractors and consulting engineers
• Log, track and manage project opportunities through the company CRM system
• Liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate pricing and technical data for HVAC equipment
• Support the external sales team with technical input and project follow up
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients across the building services and HVAC sector
• Ensure all documentation and estimates are accurate, commercially viable and aligned with project timelines
About You
• Degree qualified in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Refrigeration Engineering
• Minimum 3 years experience in an Engineer Estimator, Mechanical Estimator or Building Services Engineer role
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, heating and cooling plant, and mechanical building services
• Experience preparing technical quotations and working on building services tenders
• Confident reviewing drawings, specifications and mechanical system designs
• Commercially aware with strong attention to detail
• Customer focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a high performing estimation team
• Comfortable working in a busy office environment managing multiple live projects
