The Company
This Irish M&E contractor delivers major mechanical and electrical projects across Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe, with a strong pipeline across data centres, pharmaceutical, healthcare, industrial and other technically complex sectors.
They are now looking to appoint a Head of Planning to take ownership of the planning function across the group, supporting project teams and developing a consistent approach to programming and reporting across their international project portfolio.
The Role: Head of Planning
As Head of Planning, you will lead the planning function across projects in Ireland, the UK and Europe, managing and developing a team of Planners and Senior Planners.
Based from either Dublin, Co Dublin or Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim, you will work closely with Project Directors, Project Managers, Commercial, Design, Procurement and Construction teams from pre-construction through installation, commissioning and handover.
This could suit an experienced Planning Manager or Senior Planner who has the technical and leadership experience to step into a Head of Planning position.
Must Have Requirements
You will currently be operating at Senior Planner, Planning Manager or a similar senior level and have the experience to take ownership of a wider planning function.
A strong understanding of M&E project delivery is important, particularly the interaction between design, procurement, installation and commissioning.
Experience across data centres, pharmaceutical, healthcare, industrial or similarly complex projects would be beneficial, along with strong commercial awareness and the ability to manage planning requirements across multiple projects and regions.

- Significant construction planning experience within a major M&E, engineering or construction contractor
- Proven experience managing complex programmes from pre-construction through commissioning and handover
- Strong Primavera P6 experience
- Experience leading, managing or mentoring Planners and Senior Planners
- Lead the planning function across projects in Ireland, the UK and mainland Europe
- Manage, mentor and develop the wider planning team
- Oversee detailed project programmes, baseline programmes and progress reporting
- Ensure programmes properly account for design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover
- Identify programme risks, delays and constraints and develop mitigation or recovery strategies
- Provide senior management with clear reporting on programme performance and key milestones
- Support tender and pre-construction teams with programme development and planning strategy
- Establish consistent planning standards, procedures and reporting across the business
- Coordinate planning resources across current and upcoming projects
