The Role –Health and Safety Officer
As Health and Safety Officer you will be responsible for overseeing health and safety compliance on a major infrastructure upgrade project in Limerick. Working closely with the site management and project delivery teams, you will ensure all works are carried out in line with Irish health and safety legislation and company procedures.
You will play a key role in promoting a strong safety culture on site, supporting operational teams, carrying out inspections and ensuring safe working practices are consistently maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor all site activities to ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and company procedures
• Carry out regular site inspections, audits and risk assessments across all construction works
• Promote a proactive safety culture across site teams and subcontractors
• Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses while implementing corrective actions
• Deliver toolbox talks and safety briefings to site personnel
• Review RAMS, permits and safety documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements
• Maintain accurate health and safety records, reports and site documentation
• Work closely with site management and subcontractors to continuously improve safety performance
About You:
• Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health or related discipline
• NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent health and safety qualification
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Construction Health and Safety Officer or EHS Advisor
• Experience working on civil engineering or infrastructure construction projects
• Strong understanding of Irish construction health and safety legislation
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage site teams and subcontractors
• Strong organisational and reporting skills
