We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic infrastructure delivery team in Cork.
Working on water and wastewater treatment projects across Munster, you’ll support the delivery of high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions for critical utility services.
As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll assist in the design, coordination, and implementation of mechanical systems within live and new-build treatment facilities, pump stations, and network upgrades.
You will gain hands-on experience with mechanical installations, tender documentation, project scheduling, commissioning, and QA/QC procedures—developing the practical expertise to grow within a leading civil utility contractor.

Junior Mechanical Engineer Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or similar).
- 0–2 years’ experience, ideally in the water, wastewater, or environmental infrastructure sectors.
- Exposure to pump systems, pipelines, valves, treatment process equipment, and rotating plant is a strong advantage.
- Working knowledge of mechanical drawings, AutoCAD, and MS Office tools.
- Awareness of mechanical commissioning and QA/QC processes is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a solution-focused attitude.
- Full, clean driving license (essential).
- Familiarity with Irish Water specifications and guidelines.
- Site-based internship or co-op experience with a civil, mechanical, or utilities contractor.
- Experience using Revit or Navisworks for coordination (bonus but not required).
- Knowledge of HSQE practices and SafePass certification.
As a Junior Mechanical Engineer:
- Assist senior engineers and project managers in delivering mechanical aspects of water and wastewater projects.
- Support the preparation and review of P&IDs, GA drawings, mechanical layouts, and equipment schedules.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure timely procurement and delivery of mechanical equipment.
- Conduct site inspections, assist with mechanical installation monitoring, snagging, and final commissioning.
- Participate in the preparation of O&M manuals and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, HSE officers, and design teams to ensure technical compliance and health & safety adherence.
- Engage in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for plant and mechanical system issues.
- Work with SCADA and control interface teams where mechanical systems require integration.
