An excellent opportunity has opened for a Junior Piping Designer to join a growing engineering team based in Co. Mayo. This is a great role for someone looking to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience working on a range of innovative and technically challenging projects.

You’ll work closely with senior engineers and designers, contributing to the delivery of high-quality piping design solutions while continuing to build your knowledge of industry standards and design practices.

Junior Piping Designer Skills:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (Level 7 or 8) or a relevant CAD/BIM qualification; alternatively, a trade background with proven CAD design skills.
  • Some knowledge or experience in sectors such as pharmaceutical, data centres, water/wastewater treatment, or building services.
  • Familiarity with carbon and stainless steel piping, supports, and fabrication methods.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Experience or working knowledge of 3D design software such as Navisworks, Plant 3D, Revit, and Advanced Steel.

As a Junior Piping Designer:
  • Prepare and extract isometric drawings and detailed fabrication drawings.
  • Develop models and drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, and Advanced Steel.
  • Understand and apply the basics of pipe fittings, routing, and component selection.
  • Demonstrate awareness of mechanical equipment such as pumps, buffer vessels, heat exchangers, chillers, AHUs, FCUs, heat pumps, and expansion vessels.
  • Assist in the design of pipe supports and layouts.
  • Carry out material take-offs, participate in design and construction reviews, support site surveys, and assist during installation stages.

The Package:

Salary will be DOE, but you can expect a salary of at least €37,500 plus package to and more.
