The Company

An international M&E contractor delivering major data centre, pharmaceutical and technically complex engineering projects across Ireland and Europe.

With a strong European project pipeline, the business is continuing to expand its engineering teams in Italy and offers experienced electrical professionals long-term opportunities across major data centre projects.

The Role: Lead Electrical Engineer

As Lead Electrical Engineer in Milan, you will take responsibility for electrical engineering activities from design development through installation, commissioning and handover on a major data centre project.

Working closely with the Project Manager, BIM team, construction team, vendors and client, you will ensure electrical systems are technically compliant, coordinated and delivered in line with the construction programme.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 7+ years’ electrical project engineering experience, ideally within construction
• Third level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering required
• Proven experience required with LV and MV electrical systems
• Data centre, pharmaceutical, commercial or major industrial project experience required
• Strong electrical design, technical submittal and commissioning knowledge

Preferred Experience

• Data centre electrical engineering experience preferred
• Amtech, Dialux and AutoCAD 2D experience beneficial
• Experience dealing directly with clients, vendors and specialist subcontractors
• Knowledge of BS7671, IEC and relevant EN electrical standards

Key Responsibilities

• Lead electrical engineering and design management activities
• Review electrical designs, specifications and cable sizing calculations
• Identify design gaps and resolve technical issues before installation
• Prepare and manage electrical technical submittals and approvals
• Coordinate with BIM and site teams to ensure installations are fully constructible
• Track electrical equipment procurement, approvals and deliveries
• Carry out electrical system walk-downs and compliance checks
• Coordinate specialist vendors through commissioning and handover
• Compile test packs, technical documentation and O&M information
• Mentor and support junior electrical engineers and graduates

About You

You are an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer with strong technical knowledge of LV and MV systems and a background delivering large electrical packages on data centre or similar technically demanding projects.

You will be comfortable managing design coordination, technical approvals, vendors and commissioning while keeping engineering activities aligned with the construction programme.
