The Role Mechanical Commissioning Lead
This is a senior site-based role where you will take full ownership of mechanical commissioning on a major data centre project in Milan. You will lead the commissioning process from planning through to final handover, ensuring all mechanical systems are brought online safely, efficiently, and in line with client expectations.
You will be responsible for driving commissioning strategy, coordinating multiple stakeholders, and ensuring that programme, quality, and compliance targets are met. This role has a direct impact on project completion and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all mechanical commissioning activities on site
- Develop and implement detailed commissioning plans and procedures
- Review IFC drawings, specifications and technical submittals
- Coordinate commissioning activities with project managers, planners and package leads
- Manage specialist subcontractors and commissioning vendors
- Oversee system walkdowns, tag walks and sign-off processes
- Ensure commissioning documentation, scripts and checklists meet client requirements
- Monitor commissioning progress through trackers, reports and weekly updates
- Identify risks and communicate programme impacts to the wider team
- Support commercial teams on commissioning-related variations and cost impacts
- Ensure all systems are tested, verified and handed over in line with programme
- Lead client commissioning meetings and maintain clear communication throughout
- Deliver client training and ensure full system understanding at handover
- Mechanical engineering background with strong commissioning experience
- Proven track record delivering commissioning on large-scale construction projects
- Data centre or mission critical experience is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of HVAC, pipework and mechanical building services systems
- Experience managing subcontractors and specialist commissioning teams
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple systems and deadlines
- Clear communicator with strong reporting and stakeholder management skills
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and variations
- Proactive approach with a strong focus on quality and programme delivery
Salary: €90,000 – €110,000 (DOE)
