The Company

This specialist European main contractor delivers large scale data centre and mission critical projects from design and construction through to commissioning.

With a strong pipeline of major data centre developments across the UK and Europe, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager to join the project team in Blyth, County Northumberland. The business is known for strong engineering standards, structured programme delivery and well resourced project teams.

The Role: Mechanical Construction Manager

As Mechanical Construction Manager, you will take responsibility for the day to day delivery of mechanical works on a major data centre project in Blyth.

You will manage mechanical subcontractors, coordinate HVAC, piping and associated building services, and work closely with the Project Manager, planners, design team and commercial team to keep works moving safely and in line with programme.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 8+ years’ experience within mechanical construction, including site management responsibility
• Proven experience required managing HVAC, piping and associated mechanical services on large scale construction projects
• Strong mechanical subcontractor management and programme delivery experience required
• Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering qualification or relevant industry background required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre, mission critical or large industrial project experience preferred
• Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning and handover processes
• Experience delivering technically complex projects with demanding programmes

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all mechanical construction activities on site
• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, manpower, sequencing and progress
• Drive mechanical works against the construction programme and key milestones
• Review drawings, specifications, technical submittals and construction information
• Maintain QA/QC standards throughout mechanical installation works
• Coordinate with electrical, CSA, design and commissioning teams
• Lead mechanical coordination, planning and progress meetings
• Track variations and work closely with the commercial team on costs
• Manage snagging, close out and handover of mechanical packages
• Maintain high Health & Safety standards across all mechanical works

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Construction Manager with a strong background delivering mechanical packages on major construction projects.

You should be comfortable managing subcontractors, solving technical and coordination issues on site and driving HVAC and piping installations to programme. Data centre or mission critical construction experience would be particularly beneficial.
