Mechanical Lead – Data Centre Construction

With multiple live hyperscale developments currently underway across Europe, the company has built a strong reputation for technical delivery, programme management, and high-quality project execution within the mission critical sector.
Due to continued growth in Finland, they are now seeking an experienced Mechanical Lead to join a major data centre development in Vaasa.
The Role: Mechanical Lead
The Mechanical Lead will take responsibility for the delivery and management of the mechanical systems package on a large-scale data centre construction project.
Reporting to senior project management, you will oversee subcontractor coordination, programme delivery, QA processes, health & safety compliance, and commercial management across the mechanical package.
This role suits a mechanically biased construction professional with experience managing large HVAC, pipework, and mechanical building services installations within mission critical, industrial, or large-scale M&E projects.
Must Have Requirements
You are an experienced Mechanical Lead or Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background delivering large mechanical installation projects within construction or mission critical environments.
You have strong leadership and coordination skills, understand programme delivery, and can manage subcontractors and site teams effectively within fast-paced live project environments.
You are commercially aware, organised, and capable of maintaining high safety and quality standards while driving projects through to completion.

Must Have Requirements
- Must have 5 years’ experience in Project Management or Mechanical Lead roles
- Proven experience required managing large mechanical installation projects
- Trade qualification or relevant third-level qualification required
- Strong experience coordinating subcontractors and mechanical site teams
- Experience managing health & safety, QA, and programme delivery on live construction projects
- Data centre or mission critical project experience preferred
- Experience managing large-scale HVAC and mechanical building services packages beneficial
- Strong commercial and cost management experience advantageous
- Experience dealing with Industrial Relations issues beneficial
- European project experience
- Commissioning and turnover experience
- Knowledge of QA systems and project close-out documentation
- Manage the mechanical systems package across the full project lifecycle
- Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist vendors
- Drive programme delivery in conjunction with the Project Manager and consultant teams
- Manage health & safety across the mechanical package alongside the safety team
- Promote and maintain a strong Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental culture on-site
- Oversee mechanical QA processes including setup, management, and close-out of QA documentation
- Monitor project progress and ensure key milestones are achieved
- Manage costs associated with the mechanical package and report commercial updates
- Attend project meetings with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Support commissioning, testing, and final project handover activities
