The Company

This specialist data centre main contractor delivers large scale mission critical projects across the UK and Europe, covering the full project lifecycle from design and construction through to commissioning.

With a strong pipeline of data centre projects, they are looking for an experienced Mechanical Package Manager to join the project team in Blyth, Northumberland. The business is known for technically demanding mechanical and electrical installations, structured programme delivery and strong site teams.

The Role: Mechanical Package Manager

As Mechanical Package Manager, you will take responsibility for the delivery of mechanical building services packages on a major data centre project in Blyth.

Working closely with the Project Manager, subcontractors, commercial team and wider M&E team, you will coordinate HVAC, pipework and associated mechanical installations, ensuring works are delivered safely, to programme and in line with the required quality standards.

You will also manage four week look-ahead programmes, technical documentation, scope changes and as built information throughout the construction phase.

Must Have Requirements

• Must have 5+ years’ experience in a Mechanical Package Manager, Mechanical Construction Manager or similar role
• Experience within a construction contracting environment is required
• Strong hands on experience managing mechanical building services installations
• Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or related qualification required

Preferred Experience

• Data centre or mission critical construction experience preferred
• Process plant or water treatment installation experience beneficial
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, pipework and mechanical services coordination
• Experience with MS Project, Excel and project reporting systems

Key Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical packages from construction through to completion
• Coordinate HVAC, pipework and associated mechanical installations
• Manage mechanical subcontractors and monitor site progress
• Prepare and implement method statements and risk assessments
• Maintain the four week look-ahead programme for mechanical works
• Coordinate installation sequencing with the wider project team
• Monitor scope changes and support valuations and final accounts
• Manage O&M documentation and as built information
• Liaise with the client, subcontractors and project stakeholders
• Maintain high standards of quality, safety and programme delivery

About You

You will be an experienced Mechanical Package Manager with a strong mechanical building services background and at least five years’ experience in a similar construction role.

You should be comfortable managing subcontractors, coordinating complex mechanical installations and driving works against programme in a busy site environment. Strong communication, organisation and technical knowledge will be important when working with the wider construction and commercial teams.
