Operating as a full building services provider, the business covers mechanical and electrical design, installation, commissioning and maintenance. Their reputation is built on quality engineering, strong project management and long term client partnerships across major construction sectors.

The Role – Mechanical Project Engineer

As a Mechanical Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the technical delivery of large scale building services projects in the Kettering region. Reporting to the Project Manager or Contracts Manager, you will support mechanical installation works from design coordination through to commissioning and final handover.

This is a balanced office and site based position, ideal for a Mechanical Engineer who wants exposure to the full project lifecycle. You will ensure mechanical systems are delivered in line with programme, quality standards, building regulations and health and safety requirements, contributing directly to successful project completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications and technical documentation to fully understand scope
• Manage and track mechanical technical submittals in line with project requirements
• Raise and manage RFIs, maintaining an up to date RFI register
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Contracts Manager, Design Team and Quantity Surveyor on progress reporting
• Monitor long lead mechanical plant and equipment procurement
• Ensure latest drawing revisions are issued and implemented on site
• Redline drawings and coordinate as built information with the design team
• Monitor mechanical subcontractor compliance with quality and safety standards
• Attend site and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders
• Support the Quantity Surveyor with variations, change management and procurement tracking
• Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, industry standards and Health and Safety legislation
• Contribute to commissioning, O and M manuals and structured project handover
• Maintain accurate project documentation within the document management system

About You

• Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or from a strong mechanical trade background
• Experience working on commercial or industrial building services projects
• Solid understanding of mechanical services installation and project coordination
• Familiar with the tendering and procurement process
• Proficient in MS Project and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Detail focused with a commitment to quality and programme delivery
• Proactive attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
