The Role Project Engineer
As Project Engineer within the water and wastewater division, you will play a key role in the delivery of mechanical engineering packages from early design development through to installation and commissioning. Reporting to the Project Manager, you will support the coordination of design, procurement and site activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and within budget.
You will be central to maintaining design accuracy, ensuring mechanical systems meet client specifications, and supporting quality assurance across all stages of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure accuracy of mechanical design data and clarity of design concepts at all project stages
• Produce drawings and technical outputs in line with programme milestones and allocated man hour budgets
• Coordinate mechanical equipment selection and ensure performance aligns with client and project requirements
• Support delivery of works in line with agreed construction schedules
• Review and develop pipework layouts, plant layouts and mechanical support details
• Liaise with site teams to ensure smooth transition from design to installation and commissioning
• Monitor compliance with health and safety legislation and design standards
• Assist with technical reporting, documentation and client communications
• Contribute to positive client relationships through high quality engineering support
About You
• Qualification in Mechanical Engineering such as BTEC, HNC or equivalent
• Experience working in water treatment, wastewater or process engineering projects
• Strong knowledge of Autodesk 2D and 3D CAD packages
• Ability to develop conceptual arrangement drawings and detailed mechanical layouts
• Experience adapting designs to suit evolving site and programme requirements
• Understanding of Irish water industry standards and safety regulations
• Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and within a project team
• Detail focused with a strong commitment to quality and meeting deadlines
