The Company

This mechanical engineering and fabrication contractor delivers specialist piping, steel fabrication and installation packages for clients across the pharmaceutical and process sectors.

The Role: Mechanical QA/QC Engineer

This is a full-time, site-based Mechanical QA/QC Engineer position in Co Tipperary, working on a pharmaceutical project involving process piping, steel fabrication and mechanical installation.

You will take responsibility for mechanical quality control across fabrication and installation works, including weld documentation, NDT tracking, material inspections, fabrication inspections and final installation checks.

Working closely with the Project Manager, fabrication teams, site supervisors and client representatives, you will ensure mechanical works are completed in line with approved drawings, piping specifications, quality procedures and relevant industry standards.

Must Have Requirements

  • Must have previous Mechanical QA/QC, Mechanical Engineering or piping inspection experience within pharmaceutical, process or similar regulated projects
  • Proven experience required working with piping standards, specifications, fabrication and mechanical installation
  • Hands on experience required with weld logs, weld documentation and NDT tracking
  • Strong understanding of mechanical quality control, material traceability and inspection requirements
  • Must be comfortable working in a full-time site-based position in Co Tipperary
Preferred Experience

  • Pharmaceutical project experience strongly preferred
  • CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification would be a strong advantage
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel and process piping beneficial
  • Familiarity with Navisworks, AutoCAD or other 3D model software beneficial
  • Experience dealing directly with client engineering and QA/QC teams
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical QA/QC activities across piping fabrication, assembly and installation works
  • Maintain and review weld logs, NDT records, inspection documentation and material traceability
  • Carry out material, fabrication, welding, assembly and installation inspections
  • Review piping drawings, specifications and relevant quality documentation to ensure works meet project requirements
  • Coordinate fabrication activities and compile Bills of Materials where required
  • Liaise with the Project Manager, site teams, fabricators and client representatives on quality and technical matters
  • Track project progress, quality issues and outstanding inspections, providing accurate reports to the project team
  • Ensure mechanical works comply with project specifications, industry standards, safety regulations and quality requirements
About You

You will come from a Mechanical Engineering, QA/QC or piping background with practical experience of fabrication and installation on pharmaceutical or process projects.

You should be comfortable reading piping drawings and specifications and have a good working knowledge of welding documentation, weld logs, NDT tracking, material traceability and mechanical inspection.

You will need to be organised enough to keep quality documentation accurate while still being comfortable out on site inspecting works and dealing directly with fabrication teams, supervisors and the client.

A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline is preferred, although relevant hands-on industry experience will also be considered.

What’s on Offer

Salary: Up to €75,000 DOE

Benefits:

  • Long-term pharmaceutical project work
  • Full-time site-based position in Co Tipperary
  • Exposure to specialist process piping and fabrication packages
  • Continued technical and project experience within the pharmaceutical sector
  • Opportunity to develop further within mechanical QA/QC and project delivery
Why Apply?

This role would suit a Mechanical QA/QC Engineer who wants to remain close to the technical side of piping, welding and fabrication rather than moving into a purely office-based engineering position.

You will have direct involvement in the quality and delivery of mechanical works on a pharmaceutical site in the Clonmel area, with responsibility across fabrication, inspection, documentation and installation.
