Mechanical Quantity Surveyor Skills:
- Degree/Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar.
- 3+ years’ QS experience (mechanical/M&E exposure preferred).
- Solid understanding of building-services systems (HVAC & plumbing).
- Advanced Excel and strong MS Office; CostX/BIM exposure is a plus.
- Sharp commercial instincts, clear communication and confident negotiation.
- Comfortable working independently while staying tightly plugged into the site and project team.
As a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor:
- Build accurate take-offs, BOQs and tender pricing packs.
- Assess subcontractor/supplier quotes and make clear, data-driven recommendations.
- Drive cost control: budgets, forecasting, CVRs, and monthly reporting.
- Lead change management—prepare, negotiate and agree variations and claims.
- Administer subcontractor accounts and certify payments.
- Support monthly valuations and client applications with tidy, defensible backup.
- Close out projects with agreed final accounts (clients and subcontractors).
- Work shoulder-to-shoulder with PMs and procurement to keep programme and cost on track.
