The Role – Mechanical Quantity Surveyor
As a Mechanical Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial and contractual management of mechanical packages from pre-contract through to final account. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered within budget while maintaining strong financial control and supporting overall project performance.
Working closely with project managers, engineers and site teams, you will ensure accurate cost reporting, manage subcontractor accounts and contribute to value engineering initiatives across multiple live projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full commercial lifecycle of mechanical projects from tender to final account
- Prepare and review BOQs, cost plans and tender documentation
- Administer subcontract packages including valuations, variations and claims
- Monitor project costs, cash flow and provide accurate monthly forecasts
- Support procurement processes and subcontractor selection
- Work closely with site and project teams to ensure commercial alignment
- Attend client and progress meetings, providing commercial updates
- Ensure compliance with contract conditions and company procedures
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within mechanical or M&E contracting
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts and commercial management
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Proficient in Excel and QS software such as CostX, Cubit or similar
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage workload independently while contributing to a team environment
- Focused on delivering projects on time and within budget
Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 (DOE)
